Cousin Cameron Turns 11!

One of the highlights of the beginning of summer, for us, is Cameron's birthday.  You see, Cameron has two grown brothers and a much younger little sister, and he's just 14 months older than Jeremiah.  The boys have been best friends since they were 2 and 3, and Cam fits in with our family so well that we invite him to spend several days with us at least twice a year.  When he's with us, it's kind of like Miah and Lise have a big brother to look up to, and kind of like they're just all equals...

Cameron also loves to learn as much as Miah and Lise do, and loves going to the state museum and the YMCA with us, both things he doesn't get as many chances to do at home.  He's willing to try other museums and attractions, too, and he's really, REALLY funny!

Since his birthday falls just after the end of his school year, his party also always signals the beginning of the time when we will have LOTS of Cam access, just as Jeremiah's signals the return to Cam's school schedule....

And when we're together, during those wonderful summer months, school things fall away, and the children become as they were meant to be - just themselves, without the impositions school forces upon them....

And that is a beautiful, brilliant, messy, awesome and inspiring thing to be a part of!
