#Best 09 Trip part 3: (Unschool ) Camp Life...

More images and thoughts from our Unschooling Unconvention Labor Day Weekend Campout... beginning with images shot out and about around camp at various times, just recording the general mood of freedom and exuberance and exploration...
It was amazing, to me, that although most of us were strangers, we came together with a certain seamlessness that is very difficult to put into words....

I think these pictures say it better...and show how easily children flowed from tent to tent, playmate to playmate... a low table provided the perfect place for adults to share foods, and for all walking children to help themselves to what appealed....

Annalise was intrigued by the composting outhouse...both children have a deep interest in outhouses and "cortapotties", but this was something new...

Each time we went, she asked me to read the directions, so I thought she's like a picture to remember them by. And I have never seen a child more hopeful that the bucket would fill up and need exchanging during her turn (it did!).

Between the meadow and the farm, there were plenty of trails and paths through the woods. The children delighted in exploring in daylight, and at night by flashlight. Apparently, there were bears and ghosts in the woods that none of the adults saw....

The Wrights are building a geodesic dome cabin, and we got to see the framework. I spotted a mushroom, but, mostly, we just enjoyed the green soothing beauty of the place...a place that seemed, by its very nature, to welcome freedom and frolicking...
